Courses for exchange students

Undergraduate System of Japan

In Japan, undergraduate education lasts for four years. During the first two years, students receive a broad-based education, covering a wide range of subjects. In the latter two years, students specialise in their choice of interest.

Research at Undergraduate Level:

Undergraduate students in Japan may engage in research projects, particularly during their final year. We encourage students to write a senior thesis or complete a research project as part of their degree requirements. These research experiences help students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Seminars:

In Japanese universities, a “seminar” typically refers to a specialized and interactive academic course or class designed for advanced undergraduate or graduate students. Seminars in Japan, as in many other countries, serve as a platform for in-depth study and research on specific topics within a field of study. Here are some key aspects of seminars:

  1. Advanced Study: Seminars are often reserved for upper-level undergraduate students and graduate students, including master’s and doctoral candidates. They provide an opportunity for students to delve deeper into a subject matter beyond what is covered in regular coursework.
  2. Small Group Setting: Seminars are conducted in a small group setting, allowing for more personalized attention from the instructor. Class sizes are smaller compared to regular lectures, which encourages active participation and discussion.
  3. Research-Oriented: Seminars have a strong research focus. Students are expected to engage in independent research projects, write research papers, and contribute to academic discussions on the seminar’s topic.

Features of exchange programme

Although courses are associated with certain years, it is possible for an exchange student to pick courses that are higher or lower than their own year.

Through this course, students will be able to have :

・Japanese basic skills such as reading, writing, speaking and listening based on intensive learning and cultural experience.
・Support to expand their academic insights on economics geography, culture and history

・We provide essential knowledge about general business, marketing and economics, all provided in English by both Japanese and international teachers

JUE has its own credits, most courses consisting 16×1.5 = 24 hours in class and twice as much studying at home per semester, all that for 2 credits each. Upon completion of an exchange, if enough credits are validated, JUE will deliver a certificate.

(Double Degree may be possible depending on the partnership university)

English Studies Programme

The Global Business Course is conducted entirely in English to provide students with an international outlook and a firm grounding in subjects across the disciplines.
JUE conducts over 50 classes in English and offers an increasing number of English-based programs.
